Born in Cleveland in 1913. Attended the University of Detroit from 1934-1936 where he was a member of the “Seven Iron Men” track team that competed nationally against the finest track teams in the country. He competed, and mostly won, in the 60-yard, 100-yard, 220-yard and sprint relays. He was a member of the U.S. International Sprint Relay team, along with Jesse Owens. He was inducted into the University of Detroit’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. Inducted in 2001
